Attracting and retaining talent in a multi-generational workforce

Tuesday August 14th, 11:30-1:00

Featuring Kevin Dawson, Consultant with Gallagher

According to a recent survey of employers, 60% agreed that engaging their employees is a top operational priority. With a workforce today spanning 5 generations, the “how” of employee engagement seems more complex than ever. Employers who aren’t addressing how to properly engage their employees, are more at risk for high turnover rates and higher costs of doing business. If we understand the differences, then we can address the how.

As employers and HR business partners we must take in all of this to help our organizations create a harmonious workplace for all generations which in turn will boost productivity and employee engagement. Studies have shown that organizations with an engaged workforce often have higher profitability and a stronger brand than those that don’t. With the evolving shift in employee demographics, it’s become more difficult to maintain an engaged workforce. However today’s employees, regardless of generation, need to be enabled to be successful. Despite these generational differences, our employees want a positive work culture, one of understanding, and strong leadership which will in turn help improve engagement leading to increased retention and a stronger bottom line.

In this session, you will learn

-Understanding generational differences and the potential issues within the workplace

-Culture, Communication, and Development and what each generation needs

-How to create effective strategies for employee engagement that drives a competitive advantage for your bottom line
